How Can I Help My Bullmastiff Put on Some Weight?

I adopted her about a month ago, she’s 2-3 years old, and 75lbs. I took her to the vet and she doesn’t have worms, so they suggested switching her diet to a more nutritious brand of dogfood before we move on to more advanced testing. I’ve switched her to Wellness large breed dogfood, but are there other healthy ways to help her gain some weight, such as feeding her fattening soft food, or something like that?

I took my dog to the vet and he gave her some stuff to put on her dry food and she gained weight quick. You could try asking for vet for that.

Wellness is a great choice for food. You can try the soft food or you can go to the Wellness for puppies since it contains more fat content.

Compare the calories in Wellness to EVO.
Innova and EVO are 2 of the most calorie dense foods available.
Feed 2 or 3 meals per day to allow all the food to be digested.
    Add Prozyme.
    Add raw hamburger.

When I owned a Bull Mastiff it was more an issue to keep him from eating too much. Was this Bull Mastiff at this weight when you adopted her i.e. has she lost weight since you brought her home. Was she kept on the same food she was on previously? I only ask b/c a stressed dog can display a decrease in appetite – at least until she feels more settled. If her weight has remained stable since you adopted her then I’d go with some of the other suggestions – maybe even adding some high calorie wet food to the mix. Breaking up meal times to 2-3x a day was also a great suggestion and if it wasn’t suggested already, elevate her dish. This is helpful for the larger breeds.

It seems that the vast majority of people have the wrong idea about weight loss. The vast majority of people think that weight loss is only a concern for the heavy set or obese. This is not true! Pretty much everybody is concerned about how much they weigh. This is probably because of all of the outside factors that are trying to convince us that a toothpick is the ideal body shape. It is also partly because, as a society, we are becoming more and more concerned with our health. Weight loss is a natural part of being concerned about your health. If you have been thinking about trying to lose weight here are some weight loss tips that you should find helpful.
